Love Notes!
Love Notes! | Source

Hidden love notes are an easy way to show your loved one that you are thinking about them and bring a surprise to their heart and smile to their face at unexpected times. If you are looking for a way to spice up your romantic life and show your spouse, you love them, leaving love notes tucked into inconspicuous places should do the trick.

Materials needed:

Any small pad of paper will do, but it you want your spouse to recognize your notes, you may want to have them all the same color, or design. When I started leaving notes for my husband, I found a 5 by 7-inch notebook at Walmart. The pages were lined and were four different colors. I write the notes and then fold them in half, then in half again. If I have a very small area I want to hide it in, the note gets folded one more time. It's important to write the note, and fold it up rather small, so it can be hidden easily. Make sure to write your spouse's name on the front of the note so that he/she will realize that it is meant for them. Otherwise, they make think it's just a scrap of paper and not even bother to pick it up and read it.

The following is a list of ideas for small love notes that you can leave in various places where your spouse will find them. Love notes can be as short or as long as you want them to be. The key is to find places that your spouse goes to on a regular basis, to make sure they will be found sooner rather than later.

At our house, I have started putting dates on my notes to see how long it takes my husband to find them. We laugh if it takes months for him to find them. No matter how long it takes him to find each note, they bring us closer together when he does. No matter what the message, you can always sign off with an "I Love You" or a "Love," Your Name. Sometimes my husband finds them again and loves to show me notes he re-finds from a few years ago.

Love Letters Of Famous People

There are books that have been published that contain love letters of famous people throughout history. Sometimes borrowing lines from these letters, or poems will add a little spice to a marriage. Knowing that a spouse went to all the trouble to look this information up, and write it down as a sharing of similar sentiments should make the receiving spouse feel even more loved.

Love notes are an easy way to add a bit of romance to your marriage. And writing them only takes a little bit of time and effort. If you decide to start leaving a few love notes around the house, please leave a comment below at some point in the future if your spouse appreciates them. And especially if it brightens your life together.

It is now 2017, and my husband just showed me a love note he found in an old pair of shoes he was donating to Goodwill. Because I put dates in my notes, we both got a good laugh at the date. It was from 2011! Apparently, he didn't wear those shoes much! Nice to know that even six years later, love notes can still bring a smile to your loved ones face!

I wholeheartedly urge you to start sending love notes to your husband again. They can be fun for you both. I always put the date on them when I hide them now. The other day, my husband just found one in a cupboard that I hid in April of 2012...we laughed because that was 14 months ago!!! This time it brought both of us a lift, not just him. Thanks for all the wonderful votes too!

I have to admit since we both retired I don't send love notes anymore :( I used to always put them in my husband's lunch box. I guess I have to start again cause they're so much fun to receive.

Voted up, useful, awesome, and interesting.

Yes you are right and so it's worth the effort to put pen to paper. It really shows the one you love how much you care! Thanks for stopping by.

I'm not married yet, but I'm in a relationship. Writing actual letters is rare in these high-tech days, but receiving a paper with your sweetheart's own handwritten words of love.... that's quadruple times the sweetness! Plus you can actually keep them. :)

I will keep that in mind for the future. My husband doesn't write many love notes back to me. I guess I am the more romantic one of the 2 of us! But he does travel for work a lot and leaves me cards and letters...we exchange one card or letter for each night that he will be gone. I will treasure those many messages from him. We have exchanged so many over the past 8 years that I think we should have taken stock out in Hallmark!!!

Hi Karen, I wrote a bereavement hub about art as legacy, and explained why my husband's notes to me were so important - they sustained me for years and years after he died. Your hub is enjoyable, with some great hints and tips. That will be very useful for many who read it.

That's great that you have been giving him love letters all this time.Text messages are good too because in this day and age everyone seems to be so into technology. At my house that wouldn't work as well as the notes. My husband often doesn't notice my texts for days. They work well for generic messages, but not for anything I want him to see right away!

I love this hub, I have been giving my hubby letters since we first starting living together. After almost five years I still leave him notes and text messages when I forget the notes.

        Hi, Karen!

Just this morning, prior to reading your Hub, I wrote a love note to my wife and taped it above the sink where she was sure to find it...I think...because I do the dishes 99% of the time. Then I went outside and mowed the lawn. When I had finished, an hour and a half or so later, she came out and gave me the "OK" sign and said that the lawn looked really nice. From time to time, I'll tell our daughter, "Mom had a stressful day at work. Be sure to say something nice to her, okay?" In all of these ways, love notes are exchanged. I love your Hub, and I love how I'm finally growing up in terms of loving my wife, my queen of Ithaca. Thank you, Karen, for being so thoughtful, and for intuitively knowing that men need this as much as women do.

Voted up, a great reminder of something that I used to do quite often. Over the years I have slacked off in leaving love notes for my husband. Time to write a few notes, thanks for the reminder:)

This is so sweet and a great reminder that little things and small efforts go a long way. My hubby and I used to write notes to each other but not so much now. I used to leave it on his car under the wiper blades or write on the bathroom mirror. Our lives have gotten so busy with the kids and daily chaos so thanks for sharing this...every relationship can brighten up with love notes :-)

This is actually from Karen...Faith shared my hub with her followers ( thank you Faith). That's so sweet that your husband left you that note, and the crayons made it even better! I'm impressed that he's sad if he doesn't jog with you. Many men can't say things like that. You are a fortunate woman. Happy jogging!!!

I totally agree with you about that. We do often forget to show our love in the humdrum of every day routines. I try to remember as often as possible. When my husband is away from the house, whether away on a trip of working out, or at a meeting, I try to remember and will hide a series of notes that will give him at least 3 - 5 surprises over the next few days. he really seems to enjoy them which makes me enjoy writing them for him!

Very interesting ideas and cute too. In our busy life, we often tend to forget showing our love and affection to our spouses.

Faith, this is such a funny coincidence on your hub.My hubby left a note in the refrigerator door before he left for work: i'll be home late. wait for me for our jogging.Am sad , if i don't jog with you. XOXO.

LOL! i thought the XOXO is only used by high school kids not a 57 year old man. I thought that was cute.He must have picked that up from our nieces who were writing xoxo in their crayon art work last weekend. ha haha!

Lovely reminder to us all! My husband will set the coffee to go off in the morning so it will be ready when I wake up and then he will sometimes write a cute note on a piece of paper towel with a funny face, i.e., "Luv you, have a good day!" Or something along those lines.

        Voted up ++++ and sharing

        God bless, Faith Reaper
