Great Quotes and Poems About Friendship for Cards and Texts

Patrice loves all things creative, especially when they are shared with others. You can often find her using a quote to personalize a card.

Tell your friends how much they mean to you!

"In a Friend, You Find a Second Self"

If you're like me, you want to express appreciation to your friends, but perhaps you aren't sure how. To help with this effort, I've organized sentiments, quotes, and poems for you to use in cards, text messages, and scrapbooking. You can also use these wonderful words for making inexpensive gifts. I like to write quotes on shipping tags and give them as bookmarks. Or how about a special quote tied with ribbon around a loaf of bread to add a personal touch to a freshly baked gift?

Whether a holiday or "random act of kindness day", you'll find an expression here to fit the occasion. I'll continue to add sentiments and "warm fuzzies" as I find them, so enjoy, and always take a moment to share a sentiment with someone special.

How to Personalize Someone Else's Words

We can't all put our feelings into words like Shakespeare or Browning. I think reading quotes give us those "ah ha" moments of "Yes, that's just what I want to say." When a quote captures your message, use it and add a personal touch. I love to do this by making my own cards.

If you're limited by time or crafting ability, buy a pretty box of blank cards and print a quote typed on your computer, cut it out and insert it inside the card with double-sided tape. Going to that little bit of extra effort means so much and I think you'll find it saves you time and money, as opposed to making a trip to the store each time you need a birthday card.

  • "Into every life a little rain must fall. Call me any time you need an umbrella!"
  • "A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked." —Bernard Meltzer
  • "I get by with a little help from my friends." —John Lennon
  • "You're the kind of friend that only heaven could have sent."

Two Poems

When true friends meet in adverse hour;
'Tis like a sunbeam through a shower.
A watery way an instant seen,
The darkly closing clouds between.

He that is thy friend indeed,
He will help thee in thy need:
If thou sorrow, he will weep;
If you wake, he cannot sleep;
Thus of every grief in heart
He with thee doth bear a part.

Best Wishes to You and Your Friend

Those truly linked don't need correspondence. When they meet again after many years apart, their friendship is as true as ever.

My thoughts are free to go anywhere, but it's surprising how often they head in your direction.
