Do Girls Like Muscular Guys? 5 Point Guide for Muscular Guys to Impress Girls

Updated on January 2, 2017

Do girls like muscular guys? Yes, however media and popular culture has conveniently decided that girls like muscular guys and skinny guys are a complete no-no.

Impressing a girl takes much more than bulging biceps, washboard abs and a toned body. Here we take a look at some of the things muscular guys should remember if they really want to look sexy and attractive.

1) Out of proportion bodies are a sore to the eyes

The key for muscular guys to make their bodies look sexy and attractive is to maintain great proportions. It's when some guys take exercising to a whole new level that their bodies start to bulge in extreme manners at some places.

Consider the classic example of the guy who at one time had the world's biggest biceps. Did he really think that women would fall for his 27 inch biceps? To have muscular bodies that look hot, guys should work on developing good proportions rather than extreme bulges at some parts of their bodies, no pun intended. After all, if men can demand women to have hourglass figure, without a doubt, the fairer sex can have some demands too.

Tip: Women love a well balanced body. Don't go all guns blazing to get bigger guns. Don't focus on bulking up one single body part.

2) Women like muscular guys as long as they don't dominate

A muscular body may give a man a slight boost in his ego and self confidence. But that in no way reduces the amount of appreciation and affection he needs to shower his woman with.

Muscular guys with egos as high as the Empire State Building often come across as rude and curt. Girls like muscular guys who can be dominantly male with the world while being warm and gentle to them.

Tip: If you have a muscular body, spice up you personality and attitude with a pinch of chivalry and become the ultimate gentleman. You will sweep your girl off her feet, literally.

3) A great personality defeats a great body

If girls really liked all muscle and no manners, Gisele Bündchen wouldn't have fallen for Leonardo DiCarpio. Neither would have Selena Gomez for Justin Bieber. Nor JLo for Marc Antony... The list is long. But we think you've got the point.

Do girls like muscular guys? Yes. But will a skinny guy beat a muscular one if the former has a better personality. Definitely. No amount of muscularity or a hot lean body can match a friendly and fun personality. There is much more than brawns that the 21st century woman and girls look for in guys.

Surely Leonardo DiCaprio had a lot of competition when it came to impressing his one time girlfriend Gisele B√ľndchen who was a Victoria's Secret model. She would have been around hunky models day in and day out. And back then, Leo was not the bulkiest guy around. Yet Leo's charming personality won over everyone else.

Tip: Bank on your friendly smile and fun attitude rather than your bulging pecs to impress your lady love.

4) Women can sometimes be intimidated by muscular guys

While guys may have missed the point here at first, girls will know exactly what we're talking about. Sometimes guys with great bodies can overshadow their girlfriends. It's like one woman wearing a daring dress with a plunging neckline to steal the spotlight at her friend's birthday party.

Gentlemen, the last thing you want to do is attract all the attention on yourself when you are walking on the road with your girlfriend. So if you have a muscular body, that's great. But if you think that your muscular body is stealing the limelight away from your woman, tone it down a bit.

Tip: Whether you are at the beach or simply out on a date, make sure you let your girl steal the spotlight. Don't wear something more bling than her if you are going to a party. Don't wear something too skimpy than her just because you want to show off your six pack. If you are going to be hotter than her, you may very well be giving her self confidence a big hit.

5) A muscular body looks good, but a gigantic frame may look out of place

While this body may look great on a pro body builder, you may be out of place if you are a 9-5 office worker carrying around a freakishly big body. In picture is Ronnie Coleman posing at Mr. Olympia 2009 in Melbourne, Australia.

A muscular body is great to have. Surely girls will drool over a fit body on the beach but there is a fine line between uber muscular and a big body. When we say big, we are talking about the massively pumped up bodies that men carry around as if they were pumped in with air.

It is considered ok when professional body builders and wrestlers carry around gigantic body frames. They've got to do it for a living. But when the average joe walks out with a body the size of a gorilla, it does raise a few eyebrows, not always in the best way.

Tip: Unless you are a pro body builder, aim to get a muscular yet lean body to impress the fairer sex. If you are an average joe working a 9-5 job and bulk up like Ronnie Coleman, that may look weird.

        Ladies Ladies,

Let us all be honest here...

Most women- note I did not say ALL. like the muscly guys

        Let us turn to science…

New research out of UCLA confirms: Women are attracted to muscular guys. A series of six studies found that muscular guys are catnip to women looking for fun, and they have twice as many partners as average Joes and weaklings.

Hmm why would men spend money to verify this oh I know because women would not believe men when they said it to start...

just using our eyes and stating the things we see like-the women crowding around the muscly bouncer or buff lifeguard, football players and other athletes never marry good looking women... Male strippers are always plump or skinny guys... women show no interest in them correct??

It just like ladies want a nice guy who shows his feelings right? Yet you still hear women say "why am I going out with this jerk? They get answers like "I know get rid of him..." "I can't he's so cute and has a great body, he makes a lot of money at his job and a really big car/truck... so you may say itt does not matter but some of us know better.

i have honestly never been attracted to muscular guys. Bulging muscles and veins kind of gross me out. I'm sure I'm a rare breed. I also don't know what it would be like to be with a guy that was so self-aware of his appearance and always maintaining it with exercise, protein shakes, etc.

Muscular guys are attractive and nice to look at, but for a relationship I think there are more important considerations. However, I did enjoy your pictures!

im not a shallow person; but damn is that man good to look at.

true, i wouldn't go for the muscular guy with the gq look.

Those are the kinds of men you lounge on the beach chair with and you sip on a mojito with your girl and you just make comments about how sexy he is and all the things your would do to him.

men like that- are just problems in my opinion. half the time they consider themselves the "5-card charlie" or "gods gift to women"

love a man whos funny, great smile, can hold a conversation, wants to genuinely know more about me, and has a positive out-look on life. yes. that's my kinda sexy gq man.
