Will is a curious writer, always looking to expand and share his knowledge on more subjects than he can keep track of.

Breaking up with someone you love deeply, especially if you are the one receiving "the talk," is probably one of the most painful experiences in life. That special someone was such an important, vital part of life. And now that person is out of your life—and with him or her (seemingly), your ability to trust and love again. I know, because I've been there.

I wouldn't want to overstate the importance of quotes about moving on after a break up. Because really, it is all you. Your strength. You may feel right now that I have noooo idea what I am talking about . . . but again, I've been there. Just like you. You'll see.

I have found that, whenever I was in one of those particularly dark moods and really needed something to keep me going, each and every one of these hand-picked inspirational quotes struck a chord with me, as if they were written just for me.

Hopefully they will help you too.

Endurance, Strength, and Self-worth

"After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, and you learn that love doesn't mean possession and company doesn't mean security. And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.

And you learn to build your roads today, because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, that you really are strong, and you really do have worth.

And you learn . . .and you learn..."

-- Veronica A. Shoffstall

Not Good Enough

"All the external adoration, respect and adulation in the world, can't drown out the internal voices that tell us, we are not good enough and unworthy of happiness, love and an abundant life.

When we need others to tell us we're amazing, worthy and lovable, in order to feel good about ourselves, it is never enough. It goes into the bottomless pit where our inherent self-worth should be. It may feel like we are reaching out to receive love, but in actuality, we are seeking external noise to help drown out our negative core beliefs."

-- Jaeda DeWalt

"There are two kinds of forgiveness: the kind when you forgive and you give them another chance, or the kind your forgive but you move on without them.

Use them both wisely."

-- Unknown

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.

Give your best anyway.

— Mother Teresa

Between You and God

  • "People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered: Forgive them anyway.
  • If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives: Be kind anyway.
  • If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies: Succeed anyway.
  • If you are honest and frank people will try to cheat you: Be honest anyway.
  • What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight: Build anyway.
  • If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous of you: Be happy anyway.
  • The good you do today, will often be forgotten by tomorrow: Do good anyway.
  • Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough: Give your best anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway."

-- Mother Teresa

Attitude on Life

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes."

-- Charles R. Swindoll

The Principle

"I think that the power is the principle. The principle of moving forward, as though you have the confidence to move forward, eventually gives you confidence when you look back and see what you've done."

-- Robert Downey, Jr.

Overanalyzing a Situation

"You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the f*ck on."

-- Tupac Shakur

Doing It Anyway

"The world isn’t perfect, and some days it wears you down. You can either accept that, and face it, and be a help to others instead of a hindrance.

Or you can decide the rules are too tough and they shouldn’t apply to you, and you can ignore them and make things harder for everybody else. Sometimes life is about being sad and doing things anyway.

Sometimes it’s about being hurt and doing things anyway. The point isn’t perfection. The point is doing it anyway."

-- Chloe Neill

Happy Ending

"And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy. Maybe it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, feeling yourself up for something better in the future.

Maybe the happy ending is just moving on?"

-- Unknown

True Strength

"True strength is knowing that you don't have to be strong every single second of the day."

-- Mandy Hale

A Laugh and a Smile

"Just because I laugh a lot doesn't mean my life is easy.

Just because I have a smile on my face everyday, doesn't mean that something is not bothering me.

It's just that I choose to move on from the negatives in my life and keep my head up instead of dwelling on the past."

-- Unknown

Look Ahead

"Our eyes are in front because it's more important to look ahead than to look back. Don't dwell on things in the past. Learn from them and keep moving forward."

-- Unknown

"Never regret anything that has happened in your life: it cannot be changed, undone or forgotten. So take it as a lesson. And move on."

-- Unknown

"People don't really need reasons and explanations in order to move on because moving on is an easy thing if you start accepting everything as is."
