My name is Amber and I am both a scientist and a writer. I am writing these hubs for three main reasons: (1) because I love science (2) I'm passionate about pretty much everything (but espeically saving the planet) and (3) I love writing.

Now before you say anything, I am not just another nature loving hippie. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Syracuse University and a Master's in Material Sciences and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. During my studies I was mostly interested in green technology and I even did my undergraduate thesis on Quantum Dots, or semiconducting nanoparticles which some people believe to be the future of photovoltaics.

During my undergraduate days, I minored in geography with a focus on renewable technology and how humans are impacting the Earth. I have also seen first hand what global environmental change is capable of and have felt the negative consequences when my hometown flooded three years ago and pretty much washed away or severly damaged the entire downtown area. I am not saying all of this simply to toot my own horn, but to show that I do know what I am talking about.

I am very passionate about advocating for green energy. I am not here to prove to anyone that Global Warming exists, or that we have to switch over to renewable and sustainable energy forms now or die. While I do not believe we currently have the technology to sustain our current standard of living without burning fuel or coal, I believe that one day we will. When that day comes, we should be preparing for it, rather than ignoring it. All I want to do is show what kind of new technology, or new organic farming techniques, or new architecture methods, or what new products are out there that will save energy and help protect this Earth. We've only got this one Earth and it won't be able to sustain the abuse we put it through forever. I just want to show this world what science is capable of and to share new and exciting innovations.

I've got a lot to say. I hope some of you stick around to see more from me.
